This year’s EXPO To Be Held In The USF Marshall Student Center

marshallcenterexteriorGoing Green Tampa Bay EXPO 2009 will showcase providers of sustainable products and services as well as information about creating a more sustainable Tampa Bay region. In addition, we are combing our event with the 4th annual Campus and Community Sustainability Conference. (See: http://www.sustainablefloridaconference.org/)

Both events will take place at the USF Marshall Student Center.  This brand new 230,000 square foot facility was funded by a fee approved by the students in 2003, and it features a 1,200 seat ballroom, 400 seat multipurpose room, 700 seat auditorium, 100 workstation computer lab, expansive food court, sports grille, and restaurant, more space for student organizations, a variety of lounges, study spaces, and programming areas, large atrium and gathering space, several outdoor programming areas, courtyards, and outdoor eating areas, and more retail stores.

The facility incorporates dozens of sustainable design features.  These are detailed on the construction websiteVisit the Marshall Student Center’s website for photos, webcams, maps, and other venue information.

marshallcenterinteriorThe EXPO and conference will reach a wide audience and will:

ü      Showcase goods, services, information and ideas about renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainable design, resource efficient development and green building

ü      Foster growth of local sustainable product lines and services

ü      Stimulate community-wide interest in sustainability, and jump start actions to avert climate change

ü      Highlight sustainability-related career opportunities

Organizers anticipate several thousand attendees at the Getting Green by Going Green EXPO, including students, business owners and members of the growing green community. The event is designed to focus on sustainability issues and opportunities that face the Tampa Bay region, showing the nation and the world that this is a viable place to grow a sustainable business or industry.

This year the EXPO will feature formal exhibits inside the Marshall Student Center, an outside small business and student Marketplace along with solar exhibits and eco vehicles throughout the beautiful Marshall Student Center grounds.  Participants in the Going Green Tampa Bay EXPO 2009 will get exposure at two events for the price of one!

Welcome to GoingGreenTampaBay.com, the home of the 2009 Going Green Tampa bay EXPO.

Over 3000 people attended the April 2008 EXPO

Over 3000 people attended the April 2008 EXPO

Our first EXPO, held at USF in April 2008, was very successful.  In order to coordinate with a new sustainability conference at USF, the Going Green Tampa Bay EXPO 2009 will be:

  • Friday afternoon, October 9 and all day Saturday, October 10, 2009
  • Located this year at the brand new USF Marshal Student Center at the main Tampa campus
  • Free admission
  • See the archive of last year’s EXPO

This year’s Going Green Tampa Bay Expo is joing forces with the Campus and Community Sustainability Conference. By hosting both events the same week at USF’s Marshall Student Center, we are able to bring together the best thinking on sustainability as well as some of the best consumer-focused products, services, and information. You have the opportunity to attend both events. Exhibitors and sponsors benefit from the increased audience. Families from around the Tampa Bay area have many fun, interactive activities to explore while enjoying the beautiful USF Tampa campus. And Florida benefits by drawing increased attention and focus to some of the best green and sustainable thinking the state has to offer.

So please mark your calendars.  See you in October!
