On April 12, 2008, the first Going Green EXPO was held in Tampa, Florida. 3000 people came to the event at the USF Sun Dome to see green products, alternative vehicles, and learn how they can help with the climate change crisis. As part of the event, the organizers decided to do everything they could to make the EXPO carbon neutral - through recycling, using recycled paper, reducing waste, and also doing a carbon offset for the all-day event. On April 10, 2008, about 100 Going Green Tampa Bay volunteers planted 54 donated trees at Tampa's River Tower Park. These trees, growing for 20 years, will absorb the carbon emitted during the power production used by the EXPO. It also added to the beauty and ecological viability of the park, which was used for years as a drive-in theater. More information about the EXPO and tree planting can be found at the www.GoingGreenTampaBay.com website. The video was created by Karey Kersey, a Television Producer/Director with the City of Tampa Television www.tampagov.net/CTTV.
